Speech-to-text and BSL Tour: A Silk Road Oasis: Life in Ancient Dunhuang

Join us as we take you on a speech-to-text and BSL interpreted tour of our latest exhibition A Silk Road Oasis: Life in Ancient Dunhuang. This tour is suitable for visitors who are D/deaf, deafened and hard of hearing.

On this tour you will be guided through the exhibition by a curator. Explore how the oasis of Dunhuang, at the edge of the Gobi Desert, was once a bustling town on the famous Silk Road connecting China and the Mediterranean. Discover the personal stories of those who lived, travelled through, worked and worshipped here more than 1,000 years ago. Explore an astonishing time capsule that opens windows onto the intimate worlds of artists and scribes, merchants and fortune-tellers, diplomats, Buddhists and nuns.

The curator will provide an overview of the exhibition and focus in on a number of highlights on display. Live speech-to-text transcription will be provided by Stagetext and a BSL interpreter will be present.

One free ticket for a companion is available per visitor. Please book a ticket for each person attending. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome.
